Psychotherapy / Counselling
Our Registered Psychotherapists and Social Workers provide counselling and psychotherapy to help people improve and maintain clients well-being. Psychotherapy focuses on the client's unique needs and goals. Psychotherapy occurs when the Registered Practitioner and client enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship where both work together to bring about positive change in the client’s thinking, feeling, behaviour, and social functioning. All therapists at Thrive adopt a trauma-informed approach and utilize compassionate, creative, and innovative therapeutic approaches.
Affordable Therapy - Intern Program
At Thrive Psychotherapy you can connect with a Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying) while they are completing their educational programs. All student intern therapists are supervised by a Thrive Psychotherapy registered therapist. The affordable counselling programs offers 60 minute 1:1 counselling sessions at a reduced rate with additional sliding scale options available.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. My passion for therapy comes from a deep belief that meaningful change can happen when people feel heard, supported, and understood. My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to creating a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences and discover new ways of moving forward at their own pace.
I believe that therapy is a partnership. I take a person-centred, trauma-informed approach, viewing the client as the expert in their own life. Together, we work collaboratively to identify goals, build insight, and develop strategies to navigate challenges and create meaningful change.
I strive to be warm, approachable, and deeply empathetic, bringing patience and a non-judgemental presence to every session. My goal is to meet clients where they are, encourage open dialogue, and foster mutual trust as we walk alongside each other in the process of self-discovery and growth.
I draw from various approaches, including mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
I work with adults aged 18+ navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship challenges, and emotional regulation. My hope is to help clients feel empowered, understood, and supported as they move toward positive change in their lives.
While completing my practicum placement at Thrive Psychotherapy, I am under the guidance and supervision of Ashley Amicarelli, a Registered Psychotherapist with years of professional experience.
If you’re ready to begin your wellness journey and work with someone who will meet you with empathy, I would be honoured to support you. I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can connect, discuss your needs, and determine if we are a good fit.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Hello! I’m so happy you are taking the time to research your therapist, because I believe that the client-therapist fit is one of the most crucial parts of what makes therapy helpful. I take a relational, client-centred approach in all the work that I do, especially in the first few sessions. I believe it is so important for sessions to focus on what my clients think will be most helpful and really work with them to figure out how to bring them closer to the life that they envision for themselves. Although I work diligently through supervision and self-reflection to withhold my own agenda, I am far from a “blank-slate” therapist – I am compassionate, expressive and enjoy using humour in-sessions (where appropriate), as I believe that great healing can take place in a setting where two people are allowed to be themselves, without judgement. I enjoy working with adults of all ages and am particularly passionate about working with young adults, individuals with diagnosed or suspected ADHD, and those experiencing difficulties in their relationships, whether that be with a romantic partner, friend, or family member. I have experience working with a variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, borderline personality disorder, self-criticism and self-esteem issues, and emotional dysregulation. Taking a client-centred approach also means that I pull from a variety of therapeutic modalities depending on the person sitting across from me in the therapy office. Some of the modalities I use most often include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. I also work from a trauma-informed perspective, ensuring that clients are provided ample education on the effects of trauma, how it might be related to their everyday behaviour patterns, and most importantly, creating a safe, respectful, and empowering environment where the client shares their story only if and when it feels ‘right’. If you are looking to work with someone who will show up authentically and meet you where you’re at, I would love to hear from you! Please reach out and we can set up a free 15-minute phone consult to chat about how I might best support you through this time of change and curiosity.

Knowing when to reach out for support can be difficult, and I’m so grateful that you’re here. I firmly believe that meaningful change begins with authentic human connection – something that is often lacking in our current sociocultural environment. Whether it’s past trauma that is continuing to impact you, current situational stressors, or anything in between - let’s collaborate and make a plan to begin feeling like your ideal self and living your best life. The processing skills and coping strategies that you’ve been using may not be as effective anymore. It may be difficult to slow your thoughts down enough to see the challenge clearly. Together, we can work towards identifying and deconstructing the challenge that you may be facing. My practice is rooted in the belief that individuals are strong and capable – and sometimes life challenges are just too complex for us to overcome without adequate support. Utilizing various therapeutic modalities depending on your unique experiences, we will collaborate to identify and work towards achievement of your expressed goals and needs. The foundation of my practice is in a holistic, trauma-informed, strengths based approach – focusing on meeting each individual where they are at in their healing journey. I strive to create a warm, safe, welcoming environment to support an authentic connection.
